HIPAA
At Metnurse Health Services, Inc., we are committed to protecting the privacy of our patients’ personal health information in accordance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996. HIPAA is a broad federal law that provides, among other things, a set of national standards for the protection of certain health information.
The Privacy Rule, which was created under HIPAA, provides federal protections for personal health information held by covered entities. The rule was created to assist individuals in understanding and controlling how their health information is used. At the same time, the rule is balanced to allow the disclosure of personal health information required to provide and promote quality healthcare, and to protect the public’s health and well-being.
At Metnurse, we understand the importance of protecting your private information, and it is our priority to maintain your trust and confidence.
We want you to know that we are guided by our respect for the confidentiality of your personal health information, and we will not give out your information to anyone without getting consent from you or an authorized person(s), unless we are permitted to do so by law.
To further our commitment to protecting the privacy of our patients, Metnurse has appointed Dr. Stephen Okwuadigbo. DDP, PhD as its Privacy Officer. Dr. Minnie Simmons, DDP, PhD is responsible for ensuring compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rules. She is also responsible for staff education on those rules. In addition, she investigates, resolves, and reports privacy breaches.
